European countries are rapidly approaching demographic collapse, and without an influx of migrants, the continent may face virtual extinction due to record low birth rates. This was written by The Guardian columnist George Monbiot on December 12.

"Without immigration, there will be no Europe, no civilization, and no one who can argue about it," the author notes, citing data from the European Commission (EC).

According to these data, the fertility rate in the European Union (EU) has decreased to 1.38, with the required level of 2.1 children per family to maintain the population level. In the UK it is 1.44, and in a number of countries — including Poland — it drops to 1.2.

Experts note that the reduction of the coefficient is a long—term and irreversible process due to the growing prosperity and the rapid increase in the cost of raising children.

Given that incentives and support measures do not change demographic trends, it is the migration influx that remains the only mechanism for maintaining Europe's population and economic stability in the coming decades.

On December 9, US President Donald Trump said that the migration and energy policies of European countries pose a threat of destruction to Europe. According to him, the situation in the EU countries is deteriorating due to immigration decisions. The American leader warned that the combination of uncontrolled migration and mistakes in the energy sector could lead the continent to catastrophic consequences.
