A rapid increase in the number of legally employed taxi drivers has been recorded in the Khabarovsk Territory. There have been 10 times more of them since 2024.

According to IA AmurMedia with reference to the main directorate of regional state Control and licensing, the reason for such changes is the appearance of a draft law on the possibility of officially registering as a self—employed person.

If at the beginning of February 2024 there were 152 self-employed taxi drivers in the registry, now there are 1,411 self-employed drivers in the region.

According to the head of the department Inna Lavruk, such a format is especially in demand among citizens for whom working in a taxi is a flexible part—time job. Now they can do it honestly, pay taxes and be socially protected.

As of December, 1,534 entities are listed in the regional register of carriers, including 113 sole proprietors and 15 legal entities.

In early December, it was reported that daily pre-trip medical examinations might be canceled for self-employed taxi drivers. The initiative also provides for the waiver of technical inspections and vouchers.
