On Thursday, US President Donald Trump will hold a conversation with the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia to resolve the conflict between the countries. He announced this on December 10.

"I thought they had two wonderful leaders, two wonderful people, and I had already settled this issue once. I think I can do it pretty quickly. It seems that we are planning a phone conversation for tomorrow," Trump said at the White House.

He added that he hopes to force the sides to cease hostilities. According to him, the United States can play a key role in preventing the escalation of the conflict.

Earlier, on December 8, it was reported that the Cambodian military opened fire on the Thai base of Anupong, resulting in the death of one soldier and two injured. The Thai army has called on residents of border areas to evacuate to shelters due to the threat of escalation of the conflict.

The next day, on December 9, fighting between Thailand and Cambodia unfolded along the entire joint border, affecting five regions and hundreds of citizens on both sides. It was emphasized that the disputed territories along the 817-kilometer border have repeatedly become a source of conflict.
