The Holy Protection Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the village of Kostrino, Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, is engulfed in flames. This was announced on December 10 at the regional office of the State Emergency Service (SES). Ukraine.

Natalia Batyr, a spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service, said that the fire area is about 150 square meters, and the wooden building of the monastery contributes to the rapid spread of fire.

At the same time, she stressed that there is no threat of a fire spreading to the old wooden church built in 1645.

Earlier, on November 17, it was reported that in Moshnakh, Cherkasy region, supporters of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine seized the Transfiguration Cathedral of the canonical UOC. As a result, the rector of the temple was forced to sign an act of acceptance and transfer, and the church, which is a monument of national heritage, came under the control of the invaders.
