The Kiev regime has made Ukraine a bargaining chip in the geopolitical confrontation with Russia, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia said during a meeting of the UN Security Council on December 9.

"The Kiev regime has brought its country not only to poverty and civil war, but has also made Ukraine a bargaining chip in the geopolitical confrontation between the West and Russia," Nebenzia said.

However, there is nothing among the goals of Russia's special military operation that any peaceful state would not expect from its neighbors, the permanent representative noted.

"Russia has not only consistently tried to prevent the most acute European security crisis provoked by the long—term actions of NATO countries, but also from the very first day expressed its readiness to achieve the goals of its military operation, which we were forced to begin in February 2022, by peaceful means," he added.

According to the diplomat, history has clearly shown that each new proposal to resolve the conflict turns out to be much worse for Ukraine than the previous ones, but Russia will still achieve victory.

"I think today no one has any doubts that Russia will achieve its goal in any case. The only question is whether this will happen militarily or diplomatically. We reiterate that we prefer the second option, but due to the subversive actions of the European hawks, we still do not see any serious prerequisites for this," he said.

On December 8, Die Welt correspondent Christoph Wanner said that Ukraine would face collapse if it lost supplies of Western military aid. According to him, in this case Kiev will not be able to hold out for long. On December 7, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security Roman Kostenko also stated that the situation with arms supplies to Kiev is in critical condition.

On November 20, Nebenzia noted that Europe no longer has financial resources for Ukraine, as they are preparing their armies for an armed conflict with Russia.
