In winter, drivers face an increasing number of regulations or fines related to traffic violations or non-compliance with requirements for the condition of the car. They relate to the visibility of license plates, errors when driving on markings hidden under snow, or the use of tires out of season. This was announced on December 12 by Matvey Eliseev, a lawyer at Pravo-City law firm, in a conversation with Izvestia.

— Traffic regulations require that the license plate be readable from a distance of 20 meters at any time of the day. If it is impossible to recognize at least one symbol due to snow or mud, this is a violation," he pointed out.

The risk of parking on a lawn that may not be visible under a layer of snow increases.

The penalty for this violation is set in each region. For example, in Moscow for individuals it is 5 thousand rubles, in St. Petersburg — from 3 thousand to 5 thousand rubles. For officials and legal entities, the amounts increase significantly, reaching 300 thousand rubles for legal entities in Moscow, says lawyer Eliseev.
