A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Vostok group of troops liberated the village of Ostapovskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the actions of the Russian military, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 210 militants, an armored combat vehicle, six vehicles and a warehouse of materiel.

In addition, units of the North group of forces defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Ryzhevka, Andreevka, Varachino, Iskriskovshchyna and Ivolzhanskoye, Sumy region, Veterinary, Staritsa and Vilcha, Kharkiv region.

"The units of the Center group of forces have improved their position along the front line. The manpower and equipment of five mechanized, jaeger, airmobile, two amphibious assault brigades, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three marine brigades, a defense brigade and four National Guard brigades were defeated in the areas of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Dnipropetrovsk region. In the village of Dimitrov in the Donetsk People's Republic, the assault detachments of the 51st Army continued to destroy the encircled formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the residential districts of Vostochny and Zapadny," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated a Ukrainian military industry enterprise, energy infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces, an assembly shop and storage sites for long-range drones, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 157 districts.

In turn, air defense systems shot down a guided aerial bomb, 13 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers made in the United States and 280 aircraft-type drones. The Russian Air Force also shot down a Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 669 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 101,411 UAVs, 639 anti-aircraft missile systems, 26,467 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,627 multiple rocket launchers, 31,815 field artillery and mortars, 48,692 pieces of special vehicles.
