The Second Eastern District Military Court with a permanent judicial presence in Novosibirsk sentenced former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, listed as a terrorist and extremist) to six years and one month in prison for incitement and justification of terrorism, as a result of which the total sentence was increased to 12 years. This was reported on November 9 in the Telegram channel of the court.

"Taking into account the punishment imposed on Ponomarev by the verdict of the 2nd Western District Military Court of September 11, 2024, the court finally sentenced Ponomarev to imprisonment for a period of 12 years to serve his sentence in a general regime penal colony with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of websites and channels using electronic and information-telecommunication networks, including the Internet, for a period of 5 years," the press service of the department reported.
