- Putin instructed to create an interdepartmental group for the preservation of heritage sites
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the formation of an interdepartmental working group that will focus on improving the effectiveness of measures to preserve cultural heritage sites in poor condition. The corresponding decree was published on December 8 on the official portal of legal information.
According to the document, the group will be headed by Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy head of the Presidential Administration. The decree emphasizes that the new structure should coordinate the work of departments and develop solutions aimed at preserving historical and cultural monuments.
"To form an interdepartmental working group to improve the effectiveness of measures to preserve cultural heritage sites (historical and cultural monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation in poor condition," the published order says.
Earlier, on December 1, it was reported that the government commission approved a bill allowing dilapidated cultural heritage sites to be put up for auction along with more attractive lots, including building plots. The document provides for the involvement of private investors, obligations for the restoration of acquired monuments and restrictions on transactions with such facilities until the completion of work.
