- Polyansky said that Europe was "torpedoing" the efforts of the United States and the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has lost its significant role in solving European problems and is trying to torpedo the peaceful efforts of Russia and the United States in resolving the Ukrainian crisis. This was stated on December 9 by Dmitry Alekseevich Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation, at a briefing at the UN Security Council.
"Today, the OSCE does not play any significant role, even in those areas where it has a mandate and potential," he is quoted as saying in a Telegram channel publication.
Polyansky said that the European security crisis was provoked by NATO countries, but the current OSCE chairmanship "is trying to ignore this fact and holds Russia responsible for the consequences."
Russia is ready for an open dialogue and a reduction in confrontation, the diplomat said.
"We were and remain ready for dialogue," he added.
Polyansky also said that the organization's work in the military-political, economic, environmental and humanitarian dimensions has been virtually paralyzed, and consensus conferences have been replaced by formal events.
He noted that the Russian side doubts the ability of its European colleagues to overcome Russophobia and is determined to cooperate if anti-Russian narratives are abandoned.
Earlier, on December 7, it was reported that Europe does not want peace in Ukraine because of the signed military agreements and the desire to appropriate Russian frozen assets. It was emphasized that the financial benefits of the conflict are so great that the daily losses of soldiers have become indifferent to those who earn from it.
