- Szijjarto announced the dispatch of a Hungarian delegation to Russia to discuss cooperation
A large delegation is heading to Moscow from Hungary, which will take part in discussing cooperation between the countries after the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on December 9 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto on Facebook (the social network belongs to Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
"As soon as the conflict ends, the global economy will be able to return to normal and new opportunities will open up in international trade relations," he said.
The diplomat noted that the sanctions will not last forever, so Hungary intends to take a "good starting position" during the active resumption of economic relations.
On December 6, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced the visit of a large delegation to Russia, which will take place at the beginning of the month. He also noted that Hungary is actively negotiating with Russia on strategic and economic cooperation after the lifting of sanctions.
Earlier, on November 29, Orban arrived in the Kremlin for talks. At the same time, he called the purpose of the trip to discuss with the Russian side the issue of Hungary's energy supply ahead of the upcoming winter.
During the meeting, the Russian leader also said that relations between Russia and Hungary are based on pragmatism and "the best of what has happened" in their history. Putin noted his long-standing acquaintance with Orban, as well as the fact that, despite all the difficulties, the countries' relations continue to develop.
