The new national project aimed at developing bioeconomics in Russia will cover a wide range of industries, Anton Kostinov, Director of Research and Analytics at the Biotech-2030 Association, told Izvestia. According to him, biotechnologies are an intersectoral area and are in demand in agriculture, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, perfumery and cosmetics industries and other areas.

"This is not about supporting one industry, but about creating conditions for the technological development of a number of sectors of the economy," the expert noted.

He stressed that the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade actively cooperates with other federal bodies, such as the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Energy, since bioeconomics products are used in various industries.

"Some product groups, including feed and food additives — enzymes, amino acids, organic acids and other compounds — are also included in the National Technological Leadership Project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture," Kostinov explained.

The expert said that manufacturing companies, scientific and educational organizations and equipment manufacturers are involved in the national project, which makes it possible to maintain a full cycle of development and production of bioeconomics products.

According to Kostin, the total project budget for 2026-2030 will exceed 20 billion rubles. At the same time, about half of the funds will be allocated to support scientific research, training and infrastructure creation.

"Companies can already count on support within the framework of existing measures — compensation for R&D costs, support for entering foreign markets, preferential loans and other tools," the expert said.

He also said that by 2030, it is planned to achieve technological independence in the production of key products of the bioeconomy at the level of 40%, double exports and increase production to 400 billion rubles, which will ensure more than 50% of the share of domestic products in the market.

Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will present to the president a new national project on bioeconomics. It identifies 23 production chains from 760 positions, among which 131 priority products were identified in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said Artur Smirnov, Director of the Chemical Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
