An elderly woman died in a fire in Velikiye Luki

In Velikiye Luki (Pskov region), a woman born in 1938 died as a result of a fire in an apartment building. This was reported to the Pskov news feed in the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The fire occurred on the night of December 6 in a wooden house on Zyableva Street. During the extinguishing, rescuers found the body of the deceased 87-year-old woman. The roof burned down across the entire area of the building, and the fire also damaged the wall.

The probable cause of the fire in the Ministry of Emergency Situations is called non-compliance with fire safety rules during the installation and operation of the furnace. Nine people and three pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, firefighters managed to save two neighboring houses and three outbuildings from the fire.

On the same day, a fire broke out in a two-story apartment building in the town of Pytalovo in the Pskov region. A man was injured.

A total of 2,758 fires were recorded in the region from January to November. 65 people were killed, no children among them. Another 20 people were injured.
