The Russian Embassy in Bangkok did not receive information about the injured Russian citizens in connection with the renewed armed conflict on the border of Thailand and Cambodia. This was announced on December 8 at the consular department of the Russian diplomatic mission.

"Currently, the Embassy has not received any requests from Russian citizens. There is also no information about the victims from among Russian citizens," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that the border areas are not popular among Russian tourists, however, the embassy recommended to refrain from traveling towards the border.

The day before, Khaosod newspaper reported that the Cambodian military opened fire on the Anupong military base in Thailand, killing one Thai soldier and injuring two others. The Thai army has called on residents of the border areas of four provinces located along the border with Cambodia to evacuate to shelters amid the threat of escalating clashes.

Prior to that, on October 26, it became known that the peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia, which was signed at the ASEAN summit in the presence of American leader Donald Trump, was supposed to help de-escalate the conflict and strengthen trust between the countries.

However, on November 10, Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Chanvirakul announced the suspension of the peace agreement with Cambodia, after two Thai soldiers were injured due to a mine explosion on the border. As he noted, the incident shows that hostility at the border has not decreased and further steps under the agreement are impossible until the circumstances are clarified.
