The Liberal Democratic Party proposes to lower the age of criminal responsibility to 12 years for crimes against sexual integrity and murder if the teenager was aware of the act he was committing. This was announced on December 7 by the party's leader Leonid Slutsky.

"The Liberal Democratic Party considers it appropriate to raise the issue of lowering the age of criminal responsibility to 12 years for crimes against the sexual integrity of minors and for murders if the examination establishes that the teenage criminal was aware of and directed his actions," he told TASS.
