The former promoter of the Russian Grand Prix, ex-deputy general director of ANO Rosgonki, Sergey Vorobyov, who was 36 years old, passed away. This was announced on December 6 by the press service of the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF).
"On December 5, Sergey Sergeyevich Vorobyov, the first promoter of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix, died at the age of 36," the Telegram channel said.
Vorobyov played a key role in organizing the Russian Grand Prix from 2014 to 2020. He went down in history as the first Russian representative on the Formula 1 Commission. His career in motorsport began with the position of Director of development of the Nizhny Novgorod Ring highway in 2009, then he headed the commercial department of Moscow Raceway.
In recent years, the ex-promoter has devoted himself to the development of unmanned vehicles. His name is inextricably linked with the history of the Russian stage of Formula 1.
Vorobyov's farewell will take place on December 9 in Dzerzhinsk (Nizhny Novgorod region).
