T-Bank and a large retail chain have launched in a test mode Russia's first online project for the sale of energy drinks with age verification by biometrics. The project is being implemented jointly with the Center for Biometric Technologies and the Ministry of Finance of Russia and will become a new stage in the development of remote trade in age-restricted goods.

Confirmation of age by biometrics is a technological alternative to presenting a passport or driver's license, which excludes the possibility of selling certain goods to minors. This is the only legally established way to identify a customer when selling energy drinks remotely, the bank stressed.

Buying a drink online is available to those who have biometrics registered. You can do this at a meeting with a representative of the bank or in the application "State Biometrics Services". Consent to data processing will also be required for the first order. You can place an order in the bank's app.

Upon completion of the pilot project with energy drinks and confirmation of the technological readiness of the process, in 2026, T-Bank, together with other partners, plans to expand the number of product categories that can be purchased to confirm their age using biometrics.
