The European Union (EU) has isolated itself on the world stage by its policy and has ceased to be its leading player. This was stated on December 4 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto at a press conference with the Secretary General of the Austrian Freedom Party, Christian Hafenecker.

"Perhaps no one can dispute the fact that the EU is extremely weakened today. 2025 was the year of the European Union's isolation. By adhering to a pro—war, pro-immigration and pro-gender political strategy, he simply isolated himself on the world stage, and this led to the fact that the EU ceased to be a leading player in world politics and the global economy," he said.

According to the diplomat, the EU is not sitting at the negotiating tables where the most important conflicts in Europe are being discussed.

"The liberal mainstream has ensured that the competitiveness of the European economy has plummeted, and Europe has completely lost its security today," Szijjarto added.

The Hungarian minister expressed confidence that Russia is ready for negotiations on a possible settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, but the "European mainstream" is ready to disrupt them.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Europe should join the process of peaceful settlement in Ukraine, and not interfere with it.

On November 30, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov drew attention to the fact that Europe had withdrawn itself from negotiations to resolve the conflict. He clarified that European representatives had violated previous agreements aimed at ending the Ukrainian crisis.
