The Olympic flame of the XXV 2026 Winter Games in Italy was handed over to the organizers of the competition at a ceremony held at Athens' historic white marble Panathinaikos Stadium. The December 4 footage is published by Izvestia.
The ceremony was attended by the head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Greece, Isidoros Kouvelos, the president of the organizing committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2026, Giovanni Malago, and a number of other officials. At the end of the event, the head of the Greek NOC handed Malago a torch with the Olympic flame.
The Olympic Flame for the 2026 Winter Olympics was lit at the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Olympia in Greece on November 26. The Olympics will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026 and will be the 25th in the history of these sports competitions. The competitions will be organized at venues in Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Bormio and Livigno.
Prior to that, on November 23, it was reported that due to bad weather, the official Olympic flame lighting ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics would be held at the Archaeological Museum in Ancient Olympia.
