Nikita Chaplin, a deputy of the State Duma from the United Russia faction, chairman of the Union of summer residents of the Moscow region, spoke to Izvestia about current regulations and planned changes in the issue of providing beneficiaries with free medicines.

"All federal beneficiaries will retain the right to receive medicines for free in 2026. This list includes people with disabilities, participants and veterans of the Great Patriotic War, people affected by radiation exposure, as well as citizens suffering from socially significant diseases. Citizens who are eligible for state social assistance and who are prescribed medications for vital reasons are singled out separately," the expert emphasized.

The parliamentarian noted that the regions, within their powers, can establish additional support measures for certain groups of pensioners. As for the list of drugs and diseases, continuity is also expected here.

"The system of providing preferential medicines is stable. The basis is the list approved by the government, which is regularly updated taking into account the appearance of new modern drugs and the recommendations of doctors," Chaplin explained.

According to the expert, there are no drastic changes in the approach to the formation of this list for 2026. He stressed that the key task is not to reduce, but to expand the availability of effective treatments for citizens. The procedure for obtaining free medicines remains clear and well-established.
