The State Department renamed the U.S. Institute of Peace in honor of Trump.
The US State Department has renamed the United States Institute of Peace in honor of President Donald Trump, whose administration had previously tried to liquidate the organization. This was reported by Bloomberg on December 4.
"Welcome to the Donald Trump Institute of Peace," the publication quotes the agency's message published on social networks.
It is noted that on December 4, the American leader plans to hold a ceremony at the institute with President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Chisekedi and Leader of Rwanda Paul Kagame, who are expected to sign a peace agreement to end years of hostilities.
In February, the Axios portal reported that Trump intended to liquidate the US Institute of Peace. It was clarified that the president also wanted to sign a decree on the liquidation or drastic reduction of several federal advisory committees.
It was also noted on July 22 that representatives of the Republican Party of the United States proposed to rename the Opera House of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in honor of Trump's wife Melania.
