The United States invited Poland to the G20 summit instead of South Africa
The United States has invited Poland to the next G20 summit, which will be held in Miami in December 2026. This was reported on December 4 by Bloomberg.
"According to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the United States invites Poland to participate in the G20 summit instead of the Republic of South Africa," the article says.
According to the publication, the United States highly appreciates the partnership with Poland, pointing to the successful cooperation with Warsaw since its withdrawal from the Warsaw Pact in 1989. Rubio believes that "the country that was behind the Iron Curtain has now become one of the largest economies in the world and will take its rightful place in the G20."
It will be clarified that Poland has long intended to participate in the G20, and in September of this year, US President Donald Trump invited Karol Nawrocki to the summit "in an unspecified capacity." Poland will take South Africa's place at the next meeting amid Washington's criticism of Pretoria for violating the rights of the white population in the country.
On November 26, Trump ordered South Africa not to be invited to the G20 summit in Miami. He said that earlier, at the end of the G20 summit in South Africa, the authorities of that country refused to transfer the chairmanship of the organization to a high-ranking representative of the US Embassy, who attended the closing ceremony. The politician added that human rights violations against the descendants of European colonists continue in South Africa.
