On the eve of the New Year holidays, scammers have come up with a new way to steal the data of Russians. A number of phishing websites for selling tickets to festive performances have appeared, where contacts of fraud victims are collected under the guise of "feedback". Elena Brown, a lawyer and retired lieutenant colonel of the internal service, told RIA Novosti about this on December 4.

"Offenders simply collect contacts in this way instead of selling them. So, there are no tickets on some phishing resources, but the scammers offer to leave their data," the lawyer said.

According to Brown, according to this scheme, fraudsters can steal money and personal information of their victim.

On December 3, the Russian Interior Ministry published materials about fraudsters who call Russians, offering to replace meters and perform laboratory water testing. The attackers ask to name the code from the SMS, after which they contact the victim under the guise of employees of the Gosuslugi portal and talk about the alleged hacking of the account. Next, the scammers pose as banking specialists and convince them to transfer money to a "secure" account.
