The Dutch government is going to close the centers for the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in the near future. This was reported on December 2 by the Dutch News (DN) newspaper, citing the country's Minister of Migration and Asylum, Mona Kaiser.

"We plan to close these centers as soon as possible, as the program for accepting Ukrainian refugees to the EU will end in 2027," she said in a statement.

It is noted that currently about 75% of Ukrainian citizens are in these centers in the Netherlands. Amsterdam intends to provide 135 thousand Ukrainians with a three-year residence permit, but they will be required to look for housing on their own. Agencies helping refugees warn that there are not enough opportunities for everyone.

Earlier, on November 28, it was reported that the Netherlands plans to oblige Ukrainian refugees to pay rent and medical insurance fees. The government also plans to offer a special status for Ukrainians starting in March 2027, which should facilitate their return to their homeland.
