An excursion was conducted at Vnukovo airport for the children of the participants of the SVO

A tour of Vnukovo International Airport was conducted for the children of participants in a special military operation. Schoolchildren living in the Troitskiy and Novomoskovskiy administrative districts of Moscow, whose parents take part in the SVO, visited the air harbor, the press service of the TiNAO prefecture reported.

The children visited the training center, talked with the pilot, learned about the work of dog handlers and their pets, and the role of ornithologists in airport life. The participants of the tour were also able to try themselves as a pilot using a simulator.

At the training center, the children were told about the history of the airport, shown mock-ups of aircraft and airfield equipment. The instructors conducted an introductory lesson, after which everyone was able to take off and land on a Tu-154 exercise aircraft. The children also got acquainted with air traffic control equipment and aircraft tracking systems.

The aviation security service staff showed the guests how introscopes, metal detector frames and other equipment work. The dog handlers talked about animal training and what characteristics pets should have in order to get into such a job.
Flight safety at Vnukovo is also ensured by ornithologists and their pupil, a pet falcon. The students were told how the predator scares seagulls, grey partridges, snipe, pigeons and crows from the airfield so that the birds do not get into the aircraft engines during takeoff and landing.

In the reception hall, the guests learned about the specifics of working at the information desk, and also visited the children's waiting room. In the baggage claim area, they observed the operation of an AI tracking system.

During the meeting with the pilot of one of the airlines based in Vnukovo, the tour participants learned about his professional path — from his first classes on a training aircraft to the management of modern passenger liners. The pilot also spoke about the emergency situations that aviators sometimes face.
