A Russian citizen died while swimming in the sea on the Thai island of Phuket. This was reported on December 1 by The Phuket News news portal with reference to the local police.
"Employees of the Patong Police Station were called to the Patong Hospital at about 12:25 (local time, 08:25 GMT. — Ed.) on November 30, and the body of 69-year—old Russian citizen Sergei Lunkin was found in the hospital," the article says.
According to the newspaper, the man arrived in Phuket on November 18 with his companion and every day he made morning swims at Kalim beach. On the morning of November 30, he did not return from swimming. His companion found him in the water with no signs of life. Rescuers tried to perform resuscitation on the beach, but the hospital pronounced him dead.
No signs of violence were found on the body. According to the preliminary version, the cause of death could be a strong current. The body has been sent for a forensic medical examination to determine the exact cause of death.
