Thailand has asked India to support the country's accession to the BRICS
Thailand has asked India to support the country in joining the BRICS. This was announced on December 2 on the website of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom following talks between Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeu and his Indian counterpart Subramaniam Jaishankar.
"Thailand is seeking support for Thailand's membership in the BRICS, with India heading the BRICS in 2026," the publication says.
In addition, during the talks, the foreign ministers discussed foreign policy issues. The Thai side, in turn, confirmed its readiness to cooperate with New Delhi in various multilateral formats.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on November 25 that the BRICS countries are growing rapidly and they are able to compete with developed economies. Siluanov noted that in some developing countries, the income level of the population is higher than in countries with developed economies. He also said that developed countries are unwilling to give way to the BRICS countries.
