French soldier walks off stage during Macron's speech
A French soldier walked off the stage during French President Emmanuel Macron's speech on the country's Armed Forces.
The footage shows how a soldier who was standing behind the French leader suddenly left in the middle of a speech in which Macron spoke about the introduction of voluntary military service in addition to the existing army.
According to Macron, the innovation will help prepare the republic "for future challenges and threats."
On November 27, Macron announced that a system of voluntary military service would be introduced in France, and it would start in the summer of 2026. He clarified that due to the increasing external threats, he can offer a "purely military" national service, which will not be universal, but "will cover an entire generation" of young people. According to him, the service period will be 10 months: one month of primary training and nine months of service as part of a military unit. After graduation, you can continue your studies or work.
