A psychologist assessed the impact of torture on children in a Nizhny Novgorod kindergarten

The actions of the teacher in the Nizhny Novgorod kindergarten, who allowed the students to be tortured, caused severe psychological trauma to the children. Psychologist Irina Plotnikova told Izvestia about this on November 28.

"What is happening and has been happening with children is <...> traumatization, which can lead to further difficulties in general in relations with the world, in relations with people, <...> and even in relations with oneself," she said.

According to the psychologist, children in preschool age a priori trust adults and can perceive the actions of the educator as the norm. This explains why many victims did not immediately tell their parents about the incident. She stressed that the consequences of such an injury can manifest themselves over the years and seriously affect the formation of personality.

Plotnikova also noted that such behavior of the teacher could have been observed earlier, but remained less noticeable. She did not rule out that the cause could be a progressive personality disorder, but refrained from unequivocal conclusions without conducting a specialized diagnosis.

On the same day, the mother of a boy who was injured in a kindergarten in Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod region, told Izvestia that one of the institution's teachers had been bullying children for more than 25 years — all this time, local residents had repeatedly tried to bring her to justice. According to her, the mother of one of the pupils attended the same kindergarten herself. Even then, the teacher practiced ambiguous parenting methods: she forced the child to stand on the tiled floor in his underwear as punishment for not being able to sleep in a quiet hour.

On November 28, an eyewitness told Izvestia that the kindergarten management knew that one of the employees was abusing the pupils. At the same time, a criminal case was opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region about the torture of kindergarten students.
