Moscow is concerned about the situation in Guinea-Bissau, is monitoring the events taking place there and calls on political forces to show restraint. This was announced on November 27 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"We continue to closely monitor the development of the situation and urge the political forces of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to show restraint," Zakharova said.

The diplomat also called on the parties to make all necessary efforts to stabilize the situation, maintain order and act within the law. She noted that the Russian Embassy in the republic is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Russians and employees of the diplomatic mission in the country.

The day before, military personnel in Guinea-Bissau announced the closure of all borders of the country. In addition, they stated that the entire State is under their full control. They also announced that they were "suspending the electoral process" in Guinea-Bissau.
