In 2026-2029, Ukraine will face a funding shortfall of $136 billion. This was announced on November 26 on the website of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"The total funding gap is estimated at about $136 billion for 2026-2029," said Gavin Gray, head of the fund's mission to Ukraine.

According to him, in the next two years Kiev will need financing in the amount of $ 63 billion.

On the same day, it became known that the Ukrainian authorities and the IMF reached an agreement at the expert level on a new expanded financing program for the country in the amount of about $8.1 billion. It is noted that the relevant negotiations were held from November 17 to November 21 at the initiative of Ukraine.

Earlier, on November 13, the IMF's Director of Communications, Julie Kozak, named a condition for Ukraine to receive external financial assistance. According to her, the fight against corruption is "a central issue for the donor community" if Ukraine seeks the support of the international community.
