The German Armed Forces plan to create their own unmanned systems forces by 2027. This was reported on November 26 by the German Tagesschau portal.

"The German Armed Forces plan to deploy six units equipped with attack drones in the coming years. It is expected that the first medium—range battery will be commissioned by 2027, and five more by 2029," the material says.

Germany relies on the use of attack drones, given the success of their use in the conflict in Ukraine. In addition, by 2029, the Bundeswehr will create a company equipped with long-range unmanned systems.

The Bundeswehr is currently testing barrage ammunition. These types of drones are notable for their low cost and relative ease of use and delivery on the battlefield.

European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius said on October 24 that the European Union does not have effective weapons to eliminate drones, and therefore needs to create a "drone wall." In addition, he proposed the introduction of modern radars that will be able to detect the drone.

The Politico newspaper reported on October 3 that at the summit of the European Political Community in Copenhagen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz sharply criticized the financing of the drone wall project from EU funds. Kubilius, in turn, spoke in support of the initiative. He also noted that the project was estimated at €1 billion and its creation could be completed in less than a year.
