- Overchuk pointed to a 50 increase in passenger traffic between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.%
In the first nine months of 2025, passenger traffic between Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by more than 50%. This was announced on November 26 by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
"Over the past nine months, we have seen an increase of more than 50% in passenger traffic. Cargo traffic is also growing this year. Overall, trade is growing. We note a very high growth rate of the Kyrgyz Republic's economic growth — this year it exceeds 10% of GDP in nine months," he said.
He noted that against this background, mutual trade continues to strengthen. The trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan increased by 17%. According to Overchuk, investments of about $2 billion also play a significant role in this area.
In addition, construction of the first three of the nine Russian-language schools began in early November, where graduates will be able to receive Russian and Kyrgyz certificates at the same time. In addition, an agreement was signed on the launch of a new campus of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, designed to train up to 15,000 students. It is planned to open in 2030.
Overchuk also highlighted the contribution of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which has financed over 3,500 Kyrgyz enterprises worth about $1 billion. According to him, the fund has become a "center of business activity", contributing to the growth of the republic's economy.
On the same day, negotiations between Russian Leader Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov ended in Bishkek. During the talks, Putin stressed that Russia is one of Kyrgyzstan's main trading partners. According to him, last year the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 13.6%, to a record $4.1 billion, and in January –September it increased by another 17%. In turn, Japarov noted the centuries-old friendship with Russia and the common historical heritage of the countries.
