Since the beginning of the year, 10.3 thousand taxi cars have been suspended in the Moscow Region due to the lack of a carrier's compulsory civil liability insurance policy (OSGOP). This was announced on November 26 on the website of the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow region.

Carriers are required to have such a policy from September 1, 2024. Taxi driving without it threatens with the cancellation of the permit and an administrative fine (up to 50 thousand rubles for officials and up to 1 million rubles for legal entities).

Previously, in case of any accident on the road, a passenger could claim a payment under the CTP policy — up to 500 thousand rubles. Now passengers have received additional financial protection and in the event of an accident they can claim payment under the OSGOP for harm to life or health (up to 2 million rubles) and for damage to property (up to 23 thousand rubles).. The OSGOP policy is issued by the carrier for 1 year.

It is noted that now more than 119 thousand taxi cars and more than 31.5 thousand carriers are registered in the Moscow region.

The day before, it was reported that, according to the survey results, two thirds (66%) of Russian taxi companies do not plan to upgrade their cars next year due to the new requirements of the localization law.
