The 2022 World long jump champion, Chinese Wang Jianan, was found not guilty of doping due to the fact that he accidentally inhaled banned terbutaline in a hospital. This was announced on November 25 on the website of the independent athletics body Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

An investigation by the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) has shown that terbutaline entered the athlete's body passively. In October 2024, the athlete accompanied a relative to the hospital for nebulizer treatment, a procedure in which medicine is sprayed into the air in the form of an aerosol.

In April 2025, the AIU requested outpatient recordings and surveillance videos from CHINADA. According to the final conclusion, passive inhalation led to the appearance of traces of the drug in the sample.

The 29-year-old Jianan is the winner of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, as well as the bronze medalist of the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, Sport-Express notes.

Earlier, on August 20, it became known that in March, Italian tennis player Yannick Sinner twice passed a positive doping test at the Masters tournament in Indian Wells, USA, but escaped disqualification. The clostebol metabolite was found in low concentrations in the samples of the tennis player.
