The EU called for deepening the integration of the military industry with Ukraine

European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius proposed to deepen the integration of the military industry of the bloc with the Ukrainian one. This was reported on November 25 by ABC News channel.

The European Commissioner made his statement after the approval by the European Parliament of the first European Defense Industry program (EDIP) with a budget of €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion).

"(Defense industry of Ukraine. — Ed.) needs us. <...> But we need Ukrainian defense innovations even more," Kubilius said.

According to him, providing Kiev with access to the EU defense investment program will allow it to purchase defense equipment in Ukraine.

On November 17, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron approved a declaration providing for Kiev's plans to purchase French weapons. The document is designed for a ten-year period and includes the intention to purchase Rafale fighter jets.
