Sechin thanked the leaders of Russia and China for their attention to the energy sector

Igor Sechin, Executive Secretary of the Commission under the President of the Russian Federation for the Development Strategy of the Fuel and Energy Complex and Environmental Safety, Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, spoke at the VII Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum (RCEBF), which opened in Beijing.

The head of Rosneft, in particular, noted that the companies participating in the RCEBF this year provide up to 40% of the trade turnover between the two countries. Energy accounts for about 70% of Russian exports to China, he stressed.

The forum has a special significance for bilateral relations: "This year, Russia and China jointly celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the surrender of Japan, which put an end to World War II," Sechin said.

He expressed gratitude to the leaders of Russia and China for their support and constant personal attention to the development of bilateral energy cooperation.

The head of Rosneft also read the greeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the RCEBF participants. According to the head of state, the bilateral relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between the Russian Federation and China "continue to develop in an upward direction, and one of the most important areas of practical cooperation is energy.

"Truly large-scale joint projects in the fuel and energy sector are being implemented, which are of great importance for the economic and technological development of our countries. Russia ranks first in terms of oil and natural gas supplies to China, and is increasing coal exports. Russian and Chinese specialists are successfully cooperating in the construction of nuclear power plants and the development of environmentally friendly energy sources, and they are working together to improve technologies for extracting and processing energy resources," Putin's message says.

The Russian leader also wished the forum participants fruitful work, expressing confidence in the effectiveness of direct energy dialogue between the leading companies of the two countries.
