The Ukrainian command is attempting to distract Russian forces from the offensive in the Red Army-Dimitrov direction by transferring troops to Rodinsky. This was announced on November 23 by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin.

"The task is that they need to distract our forces from liberating and fulfilling the main task, meaning the Krasnoarmeysko-Dimitrovskaya agglomeration," he said in a video posted on the Telegram channel.

Pushilin said on November 22 that the Ukrainian military was not abandoning futile attempts to leave the encircled Dimitrov. According to him, one of the attempts was made by representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the north of the DPR. On November 22, the Russian Defense Ministry said that during the cleansing of Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov, carried out from November 15 to November 21, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost over 1,700 troops.
