The international community must prevent the outbreak of conflict in the Caribbean and Venezuela, as such actions would be a repeat of the mistake that led to the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine a few years ago. This was announced on November 23 by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at a press conference following the G20 summit in South Africa.

"We must not repeat the same mistake that is causing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine," he said. The broadcast was hosted by the South African television channel SABC News on its YouTube channel.

The Brazilian leader also expressed concern about the US military presence in the Caribbean, where the Pentagon's Armed Forces are located. According to Lula da Silva, he would like to discuss this situation with US President Donald Trump.

The Washington Post (WP) newspaper reported earlier on Sunday that the US presidential administration intends to scatter leaflets over the Venezuelan capital Caracas in order to exert psychological pressure on President Nicolas Maduro. They want to mark his birthday. The flyers will contain information about a reward of $50 million for helping to arrest and convict Maduro.

On November 14, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed hope that there would be no attempts to destabilize the situation around Venezuela and the Caribbean. He stressed that international law "is in a sad state in many parts of the world."
