The US Department of War is calling on the House of Representatives to investigate whether Congressman Yevgeny Vindman conducted "improper consultations" on behalf of Ukraine. The Washington Post writes about this on November 23.

"The Pentagon is calling on the House of Representatives to investigate whether Evgeny Vindman (Democrat from Virginia) improperly consulted on behalf of the Ukrainian government before being elected to Congress," the material says.

The Washington Post has reviewed a letter from the Pentagon's chief legal adviser, Earl Matthews, who claims that Vindman and his twin brother, Alexander, did not have the approval of the US government before they tried to act as "paid intermediaries" for American defense companies entering into contracts with Ukraine.

The letter does not explicitly state that the Vindmans received money from the Ukrainian government. However, it says that the brothers had to obtain the consent of the US Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Army before starting to work in the interests of a foreign government.

"If any American military pensioner could simply set up a 'consulting firm' and immediately begin providing services to a foreign government without the necessary permits from the secretary, it would be a mockery of the law," Mathews writes in the letter.

The Vindman brothers, natives of Ukraine, are both retired army officers. They had previously attracted national attention during their work at the National Security Council during the first Trump impeachment inquiry. On February 7, 2020, the Reuters news agency reported that the US president dismissed Alexander Vindman and his twin brother Evgeny after speaking out against him at the impeachment hearings. On February 8, 2020, Trump published a response to the public reaction after Alexander Vindman's dismissal, accusing him of indiscipline and leaking information.
