- Reuters has learned about the plan to launch air cargo flights between India and Afghanistan.
In the near future, India and Afghanistan will launch direct cargo flights to restore ties amid deteriorating relations between the two countries and Pakistan. This was reported on November 21 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the head of the Department of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran at the Indian Foreign Ministry, Anand Prakash.
Kabul's air cargo corridors with Delhi and the northern Indian city of Amritsar have been "activated," and cargo flights in these sectors will begin operating "very soon," the publication said.
During a visit to New Delhi, Afghan Trade Minister Nuruddin Azizi called on India to boost trade ties as Kabul seeks access to agricultural goods and medicines after the closure of the border with Pakistan.
"All the formalities have been completed on our part. We are waiting for all the documents from the Afghan side. As soon as they issue them, cargo flights will begin," Prakash said.
Earlier, on November 20, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov announced the development of trade and economic ties between Russia and India in the face of sanctions. It was noted that the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $43.5 billion in the period from January to August 2025. In addition, Russian exports reached $40.6 billion over the period. The Ambassador also added that the signing of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and India will contribute to the expansion of mutual trade.
