The opposition in Moldova demands the introduction of a state of emergency due to the increase in the sale and consumption of drugs. This was stated on November 21 by the leader of the parliamentary bloc "Alternative", the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban.

"We demand the introduction of a state of emergency regarding the sale and use of drugs and the recognition of this phenomenon as a national problem by all authorities. We expect decisions from the President of Moldova, who has leverage through the Supreme Security Council," Cheban said at a briefing, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to him, urgent measures are needed at all levels, not just public discussions.

Earlier, on October 25, the head of the German Federal Criminal Police Department (BKA), Holger Munch, said that drug cartels had found new ways to transport cocaine to Europe, hiding the drug in the supply of fruit juice and spices. Later, cocaine is extracted from mixtures in illegal laboratories located in industrial areas.
