The documents compiled as a result of the interrogations of the Nazis testify to their desire to justify the attack on the USSR, which they called a "preventive measure." This was announced on November 20, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Nuremberg trials, by Yulia Wenger, chief documentarian for work with the media and the public.

The specialist said that many Germans in those years focused on the fact that the German attack was provoked by the alleged deployment of large Soviet troops on its western borders. They claimed that this measure was a response to the "aggression" they allegedly noticed.

"A large number of documents were seized by the Americans. These are German archives that confirmed that the war was not preventive, and all directives were cited as evidence," says Wenger about the fate of such evidence.

According to her, the criminals refused to admit their guilt until the last moment, referring to the execution of the order they received from the party, but then, upon providing them with evidence — signed by them — they surrendered.

The expert clarified that the archives also contained documents that spoke about the order given by Hitler to destroy Moscow and Leningrad. These cities and the surrounding lands, as stated in one of the materials of the influential figure of Nazi Germany, Alfred Rosenberg, were supposed to be "transferred to the Finns."

In a multimedia project specially created by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on November 20 for the anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials, it was noted that Western countries began to struggle with the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War 80 years ago. According to the reports cited, at the meetings, both the defendants and their lawyers, with the "certain connivance" of European states, tried to actively promote the thesis of the alleged "inverted" nature of the 1941 attack on the USSR.
