The 45th VGIK International Student Festival has ended. Global values

On November 14, 2025, Moscow hosted the closing ceremony of the International Stage of the 45th anniversary VGIK Student Festival. Global values. The event has become one of the largest venues of the world student cinema. The main objective of the festival is to strengthen international relations and the creative exchange of experience between students from different countries.

Welcome words were sent to the Festivals: President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Vladimirovich Volodin, Minister of Culture Olga Borisovna Lyubimova.

For the second stage of the competition, 516 applications were received from 57 countries from 110 film schools. Over the course of several days, participants and viewers could see 77 films by students from 50 countries from 56 film schools selected for the competition. The festival became an important platform for the exchange of cultural and creative experiences, and also served as a platform for dialogue and development of the youth film industry.

The jury was headed by Emir Kusturica, a Serbian film director, actor and screenwriter, winner of awards from major European film festivals, including two Palme d'Or awards at the Cannes Film Festival. The international judging panel includes: Gao Xiongjie, Melik Sarachoglu, Shahrukhan Sherkhan, Chavada Xuan Guo, Daria Yekamasova, Ivan Kudryavtsev, Maria Lemesheva

In parallel with the film festival, the 21st International Theater Competition was also held. This year, 8 performances from eight theater schools from three countries participated in the competition: Russia, Armenia and Serbia. Grigory Lifanov became the chairman of the theater jury. Together with him, the works were evaluated by Anna Motornaya Temur Rashidov, Marina Korostyleva, Alexander Efremov, Goran Radovanovich.

This year, the extracurricular program was very intense.:

Creative meetings and master classes were held at the VGIK venues with Chairman of the jury Emir Kusturica, Rector of the Shchukin Theater Institute Evgeny Vladimirovich Knyazev, Indian director and screenwriter Shahrukhan Sherkhan Chavada, as well as Chinese director Wang Shen.

The documentary "Vadim Abdrashitov. A conversation with time." The festival ended with a colorful award ceremony for the winners. The main events of the festival were held at the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S.A. Gerasimov and in cinemas in Moscow.
