Iran is ready to return to negotiations with the United States on its nuclear program, but only if they are conducted taking into account Tehran's demands. This was announced on November 19 by Kamal Kharrazi, adviser to the Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, in an interview with CNN.

"They should take the first step and show that they are ready to cooperate with us on the terms that we will put forward <...> It should be based on equality and mutual respect," Kharrazi said.

He explained that Iran needs nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes, including medicine, and is ready to discuss with Washington only the "degree of enrichment" of uranium, but not its complete abandonment.

"If real negotiations take place between Iran and the United States, there will be ways and means that will allow Iran to continue enriching uranium and at the same time assure other countries that it will not seek to build nuclear weapons," Kharrazi said.

He stressed that at the moment Iran is ready to discuss with the United States exclusively its nuclear program, and not the ballistic missile development program. Kharrazi also called on US President Donald Trump to take a "positive approach" to Iran and renounce the use of force. In this case, according to him, Iran will reciprocate.

Speaking about a possible new confrontation with the United States and Israel, Kharrazi assured that Iran is ready for any consequences.

The day before, Trump said that Iran really wants to make a deal with the United States. He also clarified that he is fully open to a deal and is negotiating with Iran.

Prior to that, on November 1, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Iran was ready for negotiations on its nuclear program, but the United States had made unacceptable demands. At the same time, Araqchi clarified that the country is not interested in direct negotiations with Washington. According to the Foreign Minister, an agreement can be reached through indirect negotiations.
