Used car sales in Russia set a record
In October, a record sales record for used passenger cars was set in Russia. During the month, Russians bought 653 thousand used passenger cars, which is the highest figure in the entire history of monitoring the secondary market (since 2007), the analytical agency Autostat reported on November 18.
The previous record was set exactly one year ago, in October 2024. At that time, Russians purchased 605.3 thousand used cars. In the middle of autumn of this year, the market grew by almost 8% compared to October 2024, and sales increased by 18% compared to September 2025.
Analysts cite pent-up demand, which has been forming over the past few months, lower bank deposit rates, upcoming changes in recycling calculations, and high sales of new cars as the reasons for the market growth (in many cases, you first need to sell your existing ones).
As previously reported, the Lada 2107 sedan remains the most popular model among used passenger cars in Russia. In October, Russians purchased 13.9 thousand Vaz sevens. Kia Rio (13.1 thousand units) and Hyundai Solaris (12.5 thousand units) are next in the ranking of the bestsellers of the secondary market of the Russian Federation.
