The Sovetsky District Court of Ryazan sentenced the former head of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology to 14 years in prison and a fine for accepting bribes worth more than 17 million rubles. This was announced on November 17 by the Prosecutor's office of the Ryazan region.

"The Sovetsky District Court of Ryazan sentenced the former chief physician of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology to 14 years in prison and a fine of 20 million rubles," the Telegram channel of the regional prosecutor's office said.

It was established that from January 2020 to December 2022, the official systematically received remuneration personally and through intermediaries. For the money, she made decisions on bonuses for subordinate employees, ensured the conclusion of contracts with commercial structures and signed documents on their execution in the interests of bribe-givers.

In addition to the imposed punishment, the court decided to collect an amount equivalent to illegally obtained funds from the State for subsequent confiscation.

On November 11, the Second Western District Military Court announced the sentencing of Vladimir Verteletsky, the former head of the Department of the Russian Ministry of Defense for ensuring the state defense order, to 10 years in a penal colony for accepting bribes and abuse of office. Along with this, the former head of the engineering service of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) Vladimir Khoroshunov was sentenced to six years in prison in the same criminal case.
