Russia is working closely with Africa on the ministerial meeting in Cairo, and considers it a key stage in the preparations for the Russia—Africa summit. This was announced on November 17 by Tatiana Dovgalenko, Director of the Department for Partnership with Africa at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The second Russia—Africa Ministerial Conference will be held before the end of the year in Cairo. This will be the first event of the partnership forum on African soil, because before that all the summits and the first ministerial were held here. We are currently working closely with our African colleagues to prepare for this event. We see it as a key stage in the preparation of the third summit," she said at a press conference at TASS, timed to coincide with the launch of the international press tour "TASS-Africa: the Path of Friendship."

Dovgalenko said that the conference will focus on issues of foreign policy, the international agenda, as well as trade, investment, economic and sectoral cooperation.

Earlier, on October 30, Dmitry Vasilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, called building relations with African countries a priority for the Russian Federation. He noted that over the past year, measures have been successfully carried out to deepen and expand Russian-African relations. Vasilenko also called the harmonious stage of the implementation of the development of such initiatives during the preparation of the Russia—Africa summit, which will be held in 2026.
