A former school building caught fire in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Sakhalin region on Monday, November 17.

"The message about the fire in the building of the former school on Alexander Matrosov Street was received yesterday at 23:01 (15:01 Moscow time. — Ed.). Five minutes later, the first crew began work at the scene," the department noted.

The fire was localized at night, completely eliminated by 07:20 local time (by 23:20 Moscow time on November 16 — Ed.). The gorenje area was 800 square meters. m. Emergency services are currently engaged in pouring floors and structures.

23 employees and five tanker trucks of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and the Fire and Rescue Service of the Sakhalin Region participated in the elimination of the fire.

The causes of the fire are being determined. No injuries were reported.

Earlier, on October 17, a school gym caught fire in Barnaul, the fire was eliminated on an area of 600 square meters. m. There were no lessons in the hall at the time of the fire. More than 50 people were evacuated from the school.
