The geriatrician listed the tests for detecting insulin resistance
To detect insulin resistance in a timely manner, it is necessary to take annual tests for glucose and glycated hemoglobin levels, as well as for serum lipids. This was announced on November 16 by a geriatrician, an expert of the social project Dementia.net Andrey Ilnitsky in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
"It is necessary to undergo annual medical examinations, monitor glucose and glycated hemoglobin levels, measure blood pressure and serum lipids. If necessary, the doctor will prescribe special tests to detect insulin resistance," he said.
The specialist noted that the condition of insulin resistance is typical not only for the elderly and can develop at a younger age.
Earlier that day, Natalia Tanygina, a doctor, spoke about the effect of insulin resistance on the accumulation of adipose tissue. She noted that insulin has a lipogenic effect — it not only has a positive effect on the breakdown of fats, but also prevents them from being absorbed in the body in case of insufficient calories in the diet.
